Privacy & your data

Everything below applies to applying for a role at Rebar.

How AI is used, and what it does not decide

We use AI in two places: it summarizes and scores your application against the role's published criteria, and — if we move forward — it conducts a conversational first-round interview.

AI never rejects anyone. Every decision at every stage is made by a named person at Rebar, who reads your application and, where there is one, the full interview transcript. AI output is advisory: a summary and a score a human is free to disagree with. The applications queue is chronological, never ranked, so nothing is filtered out before a person sees it.

The interview is open book. Use any tools you like, including AI — we build agentic software, and we are hiring people who work with AI.

What we collect

  • What you type into the application form, including your answers to the role's questions.
  • Your resume file, and the structured profile our model extracts from it.
  • The links you give us (LinkedIn, GitHub, portfolio). We read your public GitHub profile and repositories through GitHub's public API; LinkedIn we only store as a link for a human to open.
  • Your account email address, used for magic-link sign-in.
  • Your consent choices and the timestamp at which you acknowledged that this process includes an AI-conducted interview.
  • If you interview: the full transcript, how long it took, and the evaluation written from it.
  • Every email we send you, so we can show that we told you where you stood.

Who can see it

Hiring staff at Rebar, and no one else. Other candidates can never see your application, your interview, your scores or your contact details — the database enforces that, not just the interface. We do not sell your data or share it with third parties beyond the infrastructure that runs this app (our hosting, database and model providers) and the email provider that delivers our messages to you.

How long we keep it

We keep applications, resumes, interview transcripts and evaluations for 24 months from your last activity, then delete them. If you would rather we deleted your data sooner, ask and we will.

Asking for your data, or its deletion

Email hiring@rebar.local from the address you applied with. Ask for a copy of what we hold, a correction, or deletion. A real person reads that inbox. Withdrawing from a live process by asking for deletion will end that application, which is the only consequence.

Automated decision-making notice

This is our notice that automated tools assist in evaluating your application, and our statement that they do not make the decision. If you would prefer your application be reviewed without an AI-generated summary or interview, say so at hiring@rebar.local and we will handle it manually. That request will not count against you.
